Josie Charlwood - Thanks and All The Rest

by Jay Allbritton
Great young UK singer Josie Charlwood's (@JosieCharlwood) first album dropped last year. This is one of the songs on it. Watching her precision as she inserts all these elements into the song is just delightful.

From January 2004, in Pomona, California.

Mr. Matty B and Sasharrr - With Arms Outstretched (Rilo Kiley Cover)

by Jay Allbritton
I usually don't go in for breathy, reverb drenched production but I gotta give these two points for going all out on such a cool cover selection.

The Postal Service - Turn Around

by Jay Allbritton
From Las Vegas on Friday night. Pardon the crunch of the audio in this clip, the performance is too endearing not to post. Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis have crazy good stage chemistry.

Kopecky Family Band - Are You Listening

by Jay Allbritton
From last October at WFUV in NYC.

Garbage & Screaming Females - Because The Night

Kickass rendition of Patti Smith's classic. Marissa Paternoster's guitar solo on this thing is glorious.

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights

by Jay Allbritton
From last week's set at Coachella. They're about to go again in an hour or so, only this time it won't be streamed live, which is too bad.

Mr. Kind and Holychild - Clark Gable (Postal Service Cover)

by Jay Allbritton
Mr. Kind and Holychild pull off a rocking cover of "Clark Gable". Mr. Kind's EP is over at Bandcamp.

Once again The Postal Service will take the stage tonight at Coachella, hopefully streaming on YouTube.

Tegan and Sara - I Was A Fool

by Jay Allbritton
Sometimes on their new material Tegan and Sara don't even sound like Tegan and Sara, but they do sound great. It's an impressive feat. Usually the core of what made their sound so good to begin with is still there, but not much on this track.

Rilo Kiley - I Never

The Postal Service - The District Sleeps Alone Tonight

by Jay Allbritton
The Postal Service managed to actually exceed expectations on Saturday night in their prime Coachella slot. I watched via YouTube stream. So far all the uploads of the full set get yanked from YouTube with a quickness, so, for now at least, all that remains are the clips posted on the festival's website.

You can see "A Tattered Line of String" here.

Postal Service - Nothing Better

by Jay Allbritton
The Postal Service kicked off their tour earlier this week. Last night they played Davis, California, and much of the show has turned up on YouTube. In this clip, Jenny Lewis sings the part Jen Wood sang on the band's 2003 record Give Up.

Lewis and Gibbard duets would be a great way to move the band forward, but seeing as how it took them ten years to embark on their second tour, I won't hold my breath.

KCRW Features Rilo Kiley's "Bury, Bury Another"

by Jay Allbritton
Santa Monica's public radio station KCRW is currently featuring "Bury, Bury Another" by @RiloKiley. The song is from their just released rarities collection RKives. They also have the MP3 available for free download. Based on the the country twang and the slide guitar, the song sounds like it could have been recorded for More Adventurous or for a scrapped EP the band had planned around that time.

This is a Rilo rarity that did not turn up on RKives, the very dark and very amazing, "Jenny, You're Barely Alive."

Elliott Smith - Independence Day

by Jay Allbritton
From summer of 1999 in Olympia, Washington.
