Yusuf Islam - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

It's Cat Stevens, for those who haven't heard. His version of this Animals' classic is uplifting and spiritual, as it should be.
Here's a live version.

She Loves You
by
Hector Diego
When you are a child, naturally you think of all the careers that you could have when you grow up. And I thought about them, and all I could come up with is that I wanted to be a Beatle. They had girls screaming over them, and, well, it just seems that for that reason alone, no other career could compare. But I also realized that there were only four Beatles and there would never be any more--there was no way I could be what I wanted to be when I grew up. Now that is depressing!
So now you know why a guy like me can never be what he wants to be! How sad! But at least I have a good wife! She doesn't scream over me, but man she sure can cook!
And "She Loves Me." Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Mother Love Bone--Stargazer
by
Jay Allbritton
One of the fastest, brightest flame-outs in music history was the tragic story of Andy Wood, singer of groundbreaking Seattle bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. For anyone who fell in love with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mudhoney or any of the other celebrated Seattle bands that blew up from 1991-1994, the book Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music is one hell of a good read. This song by MLB shows only a flash of talent that was lost when Wood overdosed on March 19, 1990, 21 years ago today.

Tofu - The Other White Meat
by
Hector Diego

Hundreds of wonderful dishes can be made from tofu
I don't eat much tofu anymore, but I used to. I began to eat it several years after becoming a vegetarian, so it had nothing to do with my transition to an innocent diet. However, foods like tofu can be immensely helpful to people who are new vegetarians. This subject comes up with me from time to time because of advertisements by the meat industry, such as "Beef--it's what's for dinner." Now, when I was young the meat industry never advertised. So why are they advertising now? Obviously, because people are listening to sane counsel and eating less meat. There are some ways we can assist this international transition to an innocent diet, and one of them is by language. For instance, it would help if people said cow not beef, pig not pork. We're having cow or bull for dinner, not beef; it's time for pig chops, etc.
How about a nice hog roast?

Completing the trilogy of Seattle-based bands doing MTV Unplugged, PJ's cut track, "Oceans". So far, Soundgarden is the only band among Seattle's "big 4" that has not participated, but who knows? Maybe they'll bring it back.
