Paul McCartney Blasts Meat Industry
by
Hector Diego
Find out more at Meat.org.
I did not watch this, but I did listen to the familiar voice of old Mac. I am already a vegetarian, so I have no need to watch it. If you are not vegetarian, why not watch this video? Consider it a challenge from Hector Diego.
I dare you.
Paul calls it "The Website The Meat Industry Does Not Want You To See." I wonder why...

Lost in Real Time
by
Jay Allbritton
Lost returns next week for its sixth and final season. if you haven't been watching, don't try to start now, this show is very involved and needs to be seen in it's entirety.
For the initiated (SPOILER ALERT)--this clip was put together by a fan, who takes footage from several different episodes from several different seasons and pieces together the events on the island and in the plane at the time of the plane crash that starts the show. This is as professional a job as you could expect from someone not associated with the show.

Csalemmusic--Black
by
Jay Allbritton
This is a visceral, gut wrenching cover of one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs by a very talented YouTube cover artist named Csalemmusic that I am happy to toss into the never ending talent contest. Her cover of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" is definitely worth a listen as well.

Howard Zinn (1922-2010)
by
Jay Allbritton
The great historian Dr. Howard Zinn died today of a heart attack at age 87. Zinn has long been one of my favorite writers. He was among the most ardant and articulate voices against the Vietnam War.
In this clip, actor Wallace Shawn reads the speech Zinn gave at Johns Hopkins University on the subject of Civil Disobedience in November of 1970.

Are You A Carnist?
by
Hector Diego

Why not?
Ever wonder why it is fine to eat a cow, but not your pet rabbit? The real reason, according to PhD psychologist Melanie Joy, is a form of cultural conditioning she calls carnism. Whatever we have been taught from birth we do not question...well, most of us do not question. And that's all there is to it. But carnism doesn't have to be the only way.

He's A Rebel
by
Hector Diego

Actually recorded by The Blossoms, "He's A Rebel" is credited to The Crystals. Go look it up on Wikipedia if you are curious. Anyway, I heard this song at the supermarket the other day--as a child, I had to tolerate Frank Sinatra while standing at the check out counter--and I realized it is a very fine song. You know, just because he doesn't do what everybody else does...

Google Defies Chinese Government
by
Hector Diego

Google threatens to leave China because the government wants to impose many Internet restrictions that Google finds unacceptable. The Walrus Speaks salutes Google for supporting civil liberties such as freedom of speech. Besides, the Chinese government does not represent real communism, anyway. It's really totalitarianism by another name.
