Why indeed?
I think the answer to my own question is that well to do conservatives are profiting from not having a public option, and the less well to do conservatives listen to the lies of the richer conservatives. The reason they are listening is because they identify with them on a range of issues, and fear is ever present.
So what am I missing here? Why do I mistrust a for profit organization more than a not for profit organization? Of course, under the public option doctors will still make a profit, and that is right and just. But an insurance company is nothing but a middle man that we do not need. An insurance company actually provides nothing.
