I barely listen to music without headphones these days, as my primary music listening time is when I am at my computer. Consequently, I am hearing many songs for the first time with headphones, and discovering some sounds I had not encountered before.
For instance, I just discovered that at the end of Here, There, And Everywhere, you can hear finger snapping.
Strange.

i sometimes like to listen to music with the headphones on while lying in bed with the lights out (usually just before going to sleep) so i know what you mean.
i recommend picking out a couple of your favorite c.d.'s and trying it sometime. 'the dark side of the moon', 'sgt. pepper's', and the moody blues are some of my favorites.
