Bob Dylan---Newport Folk Festival
by
Hector Diego
You old dogs already know the legend, but I'll retell it for the young pups out there in cyber land. Bob Dylan was booed by some idiots at the Newport Folk Festival, July 1965, when he introduced "Like A Rolling Stone", an electrified song. For these blockheads, only acoustic guitars with amplification were acceptable.
We have a term for that attitude that goes back to my Jr. High School days. Something about eating my shorts.
Buncha dorks.
Since then "when you got nothing you got nothing to lose" has become part of the way we (some of us anyway) speak.
I think this performance is absolutely flawless. It went on to become Dylan's biggest hit.
