Surf's Up was the Beach Boys' first "socially aware" album, with Feel Flows as an aesthetic side-trip, as it were. Brian Wilson had done quite a bit of tripping by this time...
You pups out there that only know about the Beach Boys as a fun, rock and roll band, concerned simply to ride the waves and get girls, should not miss this later phase of their career. Take it from a geriatric: get your hands on Surf's Up.
